Iluminación íntima

A raíz de un concierto que debe celebrarse en una localidad rural de provincias, dos antiguos amigos se reencuentran. Petr (Zdenek Bezusek), un músico de ciudad llega acompañado por su bella e infantil mujer a la casa de Bambas (Karel Blazek), que se ha casado, ha construido una casa, y vive con sus padres, su mujer y sus hijos. En el transcurso del fin de semana sale a la luz el contraste entre el mundo urbano y el rural, observado con fino humor, y se constata en tono agridulce el horizonte conformista que acaba con los sueños de juventud y que, al fin, reúne de nuevo a ambos amigos.

Intimate Lighting

This wonderfully subtle comedy is the debut film of a great director and a signature work of the Czech New Wave. Ivan Passer's film concerns the dreams of two musician friends, one of whom, having left their small hometown to become successful, returns to visit the other who stayed behind at the local music school. Focusing on the humor of the ordinary and routine and expertly shot by Miroslav Ondricek, it shows true affection and understanding for all its characters to become that very rare thing in comedy -- a work of great originality and universal acceptance.
